Meet The Team: Clara, Jewellery Maker
Our recent studio move to Bath has brought with it many exciting changes, including some fabulous new team members. Last month we introduced you to Oonagh, our new Studio Manager (if you missed it you can catch up here).
Working alongside Oonagh is Clara, who joins our team as a jewellery maker and studio assistant. If you've ordered from us recently the chances are it's Clara who hand-finished your treasures :)
Join us in getting to know the newest member of team Decadorn...
Clara has been working in the jewellery industry for many years - photographing, styling and making.
She's extremely talented, creative and comes to Decadorn full of ideas. We are so excited to be welcoming her to the team.
Hi Clara, Welcome to Decadorn!
Where did you work before joining us?
I worked for an antique jewellery company based in Bristol. I was their photographer, which day to day meant I was organising the photoshoots, styling the jewellery and editing all the photos for their website and socials.
Before that, I was a jeweller for a lovely jewellery brand in Covent Garden. Like Decadorn, we were a small team making all their jewellery in-house.
What does the Jewellery Maker and Studio Assistant role at Decadorn involve?
My typical workday consists of printing the orders, selecting the components for our customers' beautiful creations and hand-making the jewellery. I then pass the finished orders over to be processed and posted out.
I also assist Helen and Oonagh with developing new pieces and collections. Recently this included getting involved in designing some pieces from our No Waste Collection, which was a really creative and fun team effort!
What are you looking forward to most about working for Decadorn?
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone at Decadorn the most. I've been on maternity leave and working from home for some time so it's so refreshing to be around other like-minded creative people. I'm also excited to get to know Bath as I'm new to the area.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I teach Hula hoop fitness classes in Chippenham and like to start my day with some yoga. I enjoy walking, wild swimming, camping and generally being outdoors with my family and rescue dog Tia. In the summer you will find me dancing the night away at a festival or two.
What are your favourite places in Bath?
There's also a quilting exhibition at Victoria Art Gallery, showcasing the work of world-renowned textile designer Kaffe Fassett, that I'm planning on going to soon.
What are your favourite Decadorn Products?
I've really been enjoying getting to know the jewellery and the piece I've got my eye on is the Moss Agate Triple Chunky Chain Necklace. I love the earthy tones of the Moss Agate and the chunky chain is a great statement piece.
That said, my favourite gemstone is Labradorite as each stone is so unique and has dreamy blue, green and gold tones.
Thanks, Clara. Before you get back to the orders, tell us a fun/interesting fact about you...
I have a Guinness World Record for hula hooping 264 hula hoops between 10 of us!
